In this series of workshop, you will have an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the classical Pilates method beyond your certification.
Each Month will explore an exercise or group of exercises of the Method: we will explore the components of the movement, the challenges, how to help students develop the skills needed to approach the exercise and connect them to the whole Pilates system.
JUNE: This month we will explore MERMAIDS and SIDEBENDING.This month, we will focus on how lateral movement creates length, balance, and fluidity throughout the body. We will look at:
The mechanics of side bending
The difference between mermaids, side bends and side sit ups
The Return to Life version of the Side Bend
Exercises that support the progression into side bending
The role of side planks in correct scapular strength and placement
The correct foot positioning for the basic side bend on the ladder barrel
The importance of breath and alignment in side bending
